Report of Essay Event held on 11th May 2024
Following on the networking activities with different language class communities in the previous months, MICLE project organized a multilingual essay event in February targeting migrant children attending elementary schools in Japan. The children were given an option to write an essay of 300-500 words in their native language by choosing any one of the following topics.
- My pride
- My visit to my homeland
- My future in Japan
A total of 15 students participated in the essay event as listed in the table below.

Among the 15 submissions, two essays were selected for award. The teachers representing Vietnamese and Nepalese Language communities evaluated the essays.
Each essay submitted by the children reflected their effort to learn their native language with support from families and language class organizers. It also reflected their connection to their homeland as well as their current situation in Japan.
An online event was held on 11th May with the participation of children and language class organizers. Each child presented his/her essay. All the children were provided with Certificate of Participation. The winners of the essay event were announced and felicitated in the presence of all the participants.

私の夢
人は誰でも夢があると思います。人生では夢や生きがいが必要だと思います。なぜなら、夢は痛み止め薬のように困難や人生のチャレンジを乗り越える力を与えてくれて、人生で業績を得られるようになるからです。自分にとっても一つの夢があります。この夢は一生に追求していきたいと思っています。それは周りの人々の病気を治す医者になることです。医学大学を合格するのが非常に難しいと知っていますが、真面目に一生懸命に取り組めば難しい夢でも実現できるようになると信じています。骨折した母や難病になった友達等の親しい人が苦しいのを見て、その苦しみを減らすために何かやってあげられたら良いなといつも思っていました。それで医者になる夢を持つようになりました。医者になる夢は私の日本でのキャリア設計に支えてくれて、学業でも困難を乗り越える努力を起こしてくれます。世の中にいつも私たちの進みに邪魔になる困難やチャレンジが存在すると知っています。しかし、それらの困難を乗り越えたら、すべてのことがなんでもなくなり、夢への道がこれまでのない広く開かれます。そして、私の母国であるベトナムは山の方や離島の方には技術が高い医療を受けることができないところがたくさんあると思います。従って、将来、日本の先進の医療技術をベトナムの貧困地へ届け、病気になっている人に役に立ちたいと思っています。

日本での私の将来
こんにちは。私の名前はタパ・ジェニサです。現在私は、日本の小学校5年生です。家族は４人います。父は日本で料理人として働いており、母はアルバイトをしています。また、私には小学校２年生の弟がいます。
今日は、タイトルにもあるように、日本での私の将来について話したいと思います。子供の頃、病気になったときに日本の看護師や医師にとても丁寧な治療をしてもらったことがあります。彼らの患者さんへの対応をみて、私も将来は患者さんに思いやりを持って接することができる看護師になりたいと思いました。
日本では16歳未満の子供は無料で治療を受けることができます。また、保険証があれば誰でも病気などの際に無料で治療を受けることができます。16歳以上の人々も保険証を利用できますが、30%の負担が必要です。このような日本の制度がとても好きです。
私は日本で看護師になった後、学んだ知識をネパールで他の人々にも教えたいです。私のいとこも看護師になるためにネパールで一生懸命勉強していました。私も同じく看護師になるために日々勉強を頑張っています。休日にはインターネットや本で人体に関することを調べ、看護師のいとこからアドバイスをもらいながら学んでいます。このようなことをして私は人体に関する知識を深めています。
日本の小学校に通っていた頃、先生からフローレンス・ナイチンゲールについて教えられました。彼女はイングランド出身の看護師で、母や姉の反対を押し切り、夢に向かってまっすぐ進みました。彼女は貧困や病気に苦しむ人々を支援し、看護師として多くの人々の命を救いました。私も将来看護師になりたいので、そのことを聞いてとても嬉しかったです。
私の夢は、看護師になり、貧しい人々や病人たちに奉仕することです。この夢は幼い頃から持ち続けており、日本での学びと経験を積み重ね、実現させたいと考えています。
